Love the east end of London Ken. We didn’t go to Brick Lane this last visit though have done so in the past but we were at Spitalfields and Shoreditch (our younger daughter works round there now as her office got moved from Fitzrovia another trendy area!) π
Fascinating area, Rosemary, I agree. My great grandfather was involved with a church in the general area in the late 19th century. Sadly it was replaced by a dreadful block of flats! Finished up at the day at the Geffrye Museum. Very interesting.
I had family round there too in the late 1700s and 19th century found out that they had lived close to Brick Lane π
Small world, Rosemary. Not the first time our relatives have been close ?
You were indeed, doing lots of exploring π
Tracking ancestors takes interesting turns, Cathy π
Now that’s a place I’ve never been, Ken. Always meant to! π π
Market day worth a wander, Jo. π
I guess My Beloved Sandra’s correct: I gotta get out more.
While you can, Ron, that’s it π
I was there in June, in the next street, Wilkes St. My ggg-grandfather was working there until he was arrested and transported. The shop he worked in is now a million-pound apartment.
Amazing coincidence, Trish. The difference in accommodation standard between streets is quite marked!
One year? Time flies!!!!
