About

Talking to a friend one day, having left pure science early in my career, I described myself as a ‘lapsed scientist’. My friend replied that he saw me, not as ‘lapsed’, but as ‘an evolving scientist’. Hence the name of this blog.

Born in Melbourne but growing up in Sydney, I graduated with a Science degree, majoring in Maths & Physics. After five years working in a laboratory, I moved to Marketing and Sales. After Marketing & Sales, I found myself in many different commercial roles, including Supply Management and leading many Projects. Thirty eight years after graduation, I retired from the same firm, having worked in two states of Australia and for one year in the UK.

Married with two adult daughters and four delightful grandchildren, I am quite busy in retirement.  My card shows me as an IT&T Consultant, which means I sometimes provide [unpaid] advice on International Travel and Technology.  I am the father of a cathypowell.com and julietchandler.com.

I have recently rediscovered the joy of writing.  If I have something to write, I will write.  I do not intend to write just for the sake of it. Because of my interest in photography, I will be posting photos quite often, often in response to challenges.

‘Carpe Diem’ is my personal motto.

  1. Such a good name for a blog, Ken! Sounds like a perfect place for you to share your memories and experiences, scientific and not so scientific alike. Enjoy the journey!

  2. Your blog name attracted me and I am here to stay for I love what you are saying. I am a scientist too and my blog at present showcases more my creativity than science. I look forward to reading more from you. Nice to have found you!

    1. Hello Sam
Nice to meet you and thank you for dropping in on my blog. I am now following you in return. I hasten to add that I am not as prolific as you appear to be. That’s one of the joys – we are all different 🙂
      Grace and peace
      Ken

  3. Hi Ken. Nice blog you have here. The bridge and opera house shot never gets old does it. I’ll look forward to your future posts. Cheers from sunny Brisbane. 🙂

    1. Hi Kim. You’re right, and stale it may be, but with an international audience, I feel we have to make a statement of pride in our country.. That is the generic header, of course. I now have fun with individual header posts. Glad we found each other 🙂 Cheers, Ken
