“Rohini” was an early residence in the area. It gave its name to the street, at the end off which it sits. There is now an Anglican retirement village using the same name, occupying the same area. The name is preserved in the gate, (if you zoom and have good eyesight!). It is located near Turramurra station, originally named Eastern Road. ‘Turramurra’ is an aboriginal word meaning ‘high hill’, appropriate as it is a high point on the north shore line.
Following after Debbie,Β Six word Saturday
It looks a little forlorn, Ken. π π
Indeed, Jo. Saved but not maintained ?
Oh, I love the black and white version of the photo, especially combined with your six words. They take me back in time.
Have a happy weekend.
Thank you, Marion. Glad the B&W worked well for you. Happy weekend to you also and thank you for dropping in here.
It’s interesting that it looks like it is in a busy spot, yet abandoned at the same time. I like the edit in black and white.
Thank you, Amy. It is a dead end street, plenty of pedestrians and traffic to the retirement village.
Thank you, Marion. Glad it worked ?
Nice gate leading to… Paradise
Almost like the 9/4 gate in Harry Potter π

It was lovely that houses had names, so that was the address in the street, not a number. But it’s hard for us researchers to work out which house it was, now that the new owners don’t use the name any more. Great black and white pic.
I agree, Trish. We are trying to save a 100 y.o. heritage house from developers at present. It has a name, but mostly it is referred to as number 149!! π
