He alights from the train; his destination, Lincoln Cathedral and Lincoln Castle. Unsurprisingly, they occupy the high ground. A walk of just over a kilometre. The shortest distance appears to be through the town centre. The road, becomes a lane, but the cathedral remains in sight. The ascent gets steeper. Later he discovers that, typical British humour has applied. The last section is simply called “Steep Hill”.
A rather late response to the WPC : Ascend
Great photos. I’d love to live in a town like this, hills and all. If only the sky was blue…
I think I agree, Trish. It is a nice city with a magnificent Cathedral as a bonus and a Castle that played a significant role in English history. The Steep Hill would certainly keep one fit 😉
We visited Lincoln last year and loved it. We stayed in the Upper town near the castle so didn’t have to climb Steep Hill. I wrote a load of posts about it on Travel Words. And sometimes you do get a blue sky…

I’m sorry I only had one day, Jude. Thank you for the link. You’ve reinforced the need to return.
We stayed for two nights so crammed a lot in and only looked around Uphill (which I think is the nicest part anyway).
I like British humour! 😀
I don’t know that town however
I also love British humour. Lincoln is a nice place to visit if you get the chance.
