My favourite of your favourites: Rudyard Kipling’s study where he wrote ‘If’. I just gave a birthday card to my son with this poem written on the front of it. He read it out loud and was touched. He’d never heard it before, though he’s 29. I’ll have to tell him about the Kipling house.
I have an austerely framed copy hanging in my study, given to me by my father. It has been above or near my desk since my school days! “If you can fill the unforgiving minute with sixty seconds worth of distance run …” ?
I still envy you Saint Petersburg, Ken. 🙂 🙂 Some day, maybe… Meantime enjoy your Christmas. I wish good health and happiness for you and your family.
Thank you, Jo. Forget the envy, start planning. I’d be very happy to put you in touch with Elena ?
🙂
There is nothing like touring and seeing the world. You add memories by capturing them on digital “film.” Just a great hobby you’ve developed over time I’ll bet.
Indeed, Doc. A long time but more seriously in retirement ?
You have had an exciting year of travel Ken. I also envy you Saint Petersburg, I doubt I shall get there now. But Sheffield Park and Batemans I do know. East Sussex and Kent have the most delightful gardens. Wishing you and your family a wonderful 2018 with more photographic experiments to share 🙂
St Pete’s and England were consecutive, Jude. When we visit the northern hemisphere, we have to make the most of it 😉 Thank you for your good wishes. I wish you the same. Just remember “Carpe diem”!
wow – kipling sure lived in a big ol’ house….
Not to mention the very significant acreage around it ?
indeed – yowza – wonderful property
It’s a nice summary of your year! Some pictures are beautiful and you went to fe really great places!
My year looks pretty thin in comparison!
xxx
It was a good year for me. 2018 will be more local ?
Still many pretty things to see 😉
Yep. I hope I live long enough ?
