This xanthorrhoea has featured in several posts on this site. For the first time, using the iPhone panorama function, the whole plant was captured! Even then, it is not easy to judge the scale of this flower. The full height is 330 cm,Β while the ‘flower’ portion at the top, alone measures 80cm.

My screen isn’t tall enough for this flower, a tree wanna-be. It’s off the scale. π
??? Time you put in your birthday/ Christmas wish list ? Actually, the ‘featured image’ won’t fit on most screens. One is supposed to enjoy the detail as one scrolls down π
Aha! Now I fully understand the photo you posted for your first B&W entry a few days ago! Ken, that is an incredible plant. Yes- scrolling does enhance the experience of viewing this one!
Thank you, Jane. Glad you like our “grass tree” to use its common name. We have also debunked the theory that they only flower after a bush fire π
I was scrolling it down, down, down… and thinking: is there an end?!!!!
It’s beautiful and so unusual! Very impressive flower but a bit “bland” as well….
I’m sorry I missed this comment until now π … and it brought a smile with your “down, down, down…” To our eyes, indeed bland, but the birds seem to like it π
The birds like it ‘cos there on top of the world with that plant!!!! π
Relatively to ground, true. Relative to other trees in the vicinity, not so. The good news is that the neighbourhood cats can’t climb it ???
LOL true! Didn’t think about that one!
Wow! Incredible! By the way: never thought of using the panorama setting of my camera for a tall vertical pic. Ha ha. Learned something new today π
I’m sure I tried it once before and it didn’t work. We never stop learning, Birgit. Thanks for commenting ?
