All that glitters is not gold, but gold certainly emits a warm glow. Sunsets glow, even on chilly evenings. There is a warm glow before a ballet performance. Saint Petersburg has it all!

Beautiful 🙂
Thank you, Cathy ??
Fantastic photos. Especially the big one with the red carpet.
Thank you, Trish. I think a grand entry deserves a grand photo ?
Was in Russia myself. Enjoyed their amazing architecture and history.
Thank you for finding me again, Doc. I love St Petersburg – was there for a second time.
Nice, I particularly like that sunset photo.
Thank you, Amy. I call it “photographer’s luck” as we were walking back to our hotel at just the right time 😉
Ken- this post deserves a glowing review! Lovely choices, liked entering the set down the royal carpet.
Ah, Jane, you are too kind, but I am grateful for your review ☺️ It emerges that Catherine the Great had a private entrance, of course, but we can still fantasise that we attended one of her receptions ?
Oooh! These photos remind me of the spaces that little girls dreams are made of! The Beauty and Grandeur! Thanks for sharing! Light and Love, Shona
Hi Shona. Thank you for your comment. I’m not sure that it is just little girls that dream of being part of scenes such as these 😉
Absolutely stunning. St Petersburg is such a show-off 🙂 Is it my imagination or have you made changes to your blog? The URL with .org also looks different. Sorry, I’ve been out of the loop for a while. I love the way your pics are displayed.
Well spotted, Birgit. WordPress.com decided to put a rainbow banner on the toolbar, geo-tagging all Aussie users for the period leading up to the declaration of the result of the same sex marriage poll, from September to 15th November. Many of us were put out, when they refused to remove it, stating it is “their brand”. Irrespective of how we feel about voting Yes or No, the site is supposed to be free of politics (or advertising for premium users). The bigger issue is what cause they may back next time! So, that’s the background. Of course you would not have seen the rainbow in RSA. My site is now self-hosted (Bluehost) and I changed to .org as you perceived. Although most of the history migrated OK, the follow system is different (email only). At least the Like button has been rediscovered 🙂 I also note that the pingback to the Weekly Photo Challenge doesn’t work properly, but the link to Facebook does work!
Interesting. I can understand how you felt! Whether one is for or against whatever the cause is, one shouldn’t be forced into promoting a specific point of view. That’s what’s so nice about having a self-hosted site – it’s 100% your own playground 🙂 I can imagine changing from .com to .org must have had a few challenges but it is all looking really nice!
Thank you, Birgit. Seems to be settling down after the initial trauma 😉
