This week we were challenged by The Daily Post to provide a silhouette. My effort uses local trees, which have, I confess, appeared in earlier posts against sunsets and the glow of distant bushfires. For this challenge, the trees are silhouetted against an interesting, late winter, cloud formation.

The Sunset that “Went Viral”
Dateline: Monday 28th July, 2014, 5:20 pm AEST. Location : Suburban Sydney
My wife called me to come and look at the interesting sunset that was forming, enhanced by a somewhat unusual cloud formation. I picked up a camera and headed for the deck, our best vantage point.
Realising that it was really quite special, I then fetched a camera with a zoom lens, and achieved these results, just a couple of minutes later.
By 7:30 pm, photos captured all over Sydney had appeared on Facebook, including post by two of my friends. Two photos were even shown on the ABC TV News as part of the weather segment.
Weekly Photo Challenge : Between
This Japanese Maple is surely evidence that it thinks we are between seasons. Although it is now officially winter (24th June), many of the leaves are bright autumnal red, while there are also many green leaves yet to turn. That’s Sydney for you!
I hasten to add that most of the other deciduous trees in our neighbourhood lost their leaves during April and May as one would expect.
This is a belated response to the Weekly Photo Challenge set by Danielle Hark at The Daily Post
